- I read in some IBM document that if you weren't experiencing the problems
- that the service pak fixed, then you shouldn't install it. I wasn't, but
- I ignored what was probably excellent advice and installed it anyway. I
- crashed seven or eight times the same day I installed it. Thinking I had
- done something wrong, I began trying some of the things being suggested in
- this forum. Still no luck.
-
- I finally fixed things by reinstalling my out-of-the-box os/2, the kernal
- fix that eliminates the swapper.dat problem, and trident's 800x600x16
- seamless drivers. My system is fine, now.
-
- It does *appear* to be a little less *snappy* than (whisper on ..win3.1),
- but I have done no tweaking of the config.sys parameters, no notebook
- settings or anything else to make it faster. And that's ok. I can (and
- did) download a 400k file in the background while printing a forty page
- document while working on my budget while playing solitaire while . . .
-
- On the whole I'm satisfied. If IBM does no better than this, I'm still
- better off than I was under you-know-what. |^>
