  19. Did you try the procedure (I don't know if you saw it) that was posted in
  20. one of the Fidonet echos (probably OS2BBS)?

  22. Basically, it involved reformatting all HPFS partitions using GA, *except*
  23. with the  HPFS.IFS  from the SP installed, then installing the SP over that.

  26. I have absolutely no idea if this works or not, as I haven't gotten around
  27. to getting the SP, and after hearing about the problems some Fido sysops
  28. are having, I'm not even sure if I want to install it.

  30. What I've been doing that seems to work is a bit drastic, but I haven't
  31. had a CPS: Extent Not Found error since I started doing it.

  33. I have a STARTUP.CMD file that re-runs chkdsk (fortunately, the bbs drive
  34. isn't the one with the operating system on it, so I can do this), and deletes
  35. all the bbs log files (BINKLEY.LOG, MAX.LOG, SQUISH.LOG) and all the Squish
  36. *.sqb files.

  38. Like I said, I haven't had the CPS error thing since I started doing this,
  39. despite several power outages (one extent not found error was more than
  40. enough for me! ugh).  It *is* sort of drastic, but it's better than trashing
  41. the bbs drive.
