- Did you try the procedure (I don't know if you saw it) that was posted in
- one of the Fidonet echos (probably OS2BBS)?
-
- Basically, it involved reformatting all HPFS partitions using GA, *except*
- with the HPFS.IFS from the SP installed, then installing the SP over that.
- (gee, I wonder how to do this?)
-
- I have absolutely no idea if this works or not, as I haven't gotten around
- to getting the SP, and after hearing about the problems some Fido sysops
- are having, I'm not even sure if I want to install it.
-
- What I've been doing that seems to work is a bit drastic, but I haven't
- had a CPS: Extent Not Found error since I started doing it.
-
- I have a STARTUP.CMD file that re-runs chkdsk (fortunately, the bbs drive
- isn't the one with the operating system on it, so I can do this), and deletes
- all the bbs log files (BINKLEY.LOG, MAX.LOG, SQUISH.LOG) and all the Squish
- *.sqb files.
-
- Like I said, I haven't had the CPS error thing since I started doing this,
- despite several power outages (one extent not found error was more than
- enough for me! ugh). It *is* sort of drastic, but it's better than trashing
- the bbs drive.
