  13.  I'd like to have you add a important announcement to the FAQ. this is
  14. regarding Proportional Software's DCF/2 program. We are going to ship
  15. the week preceeding COMDEX. thanks.  Robert Eidswick

  17.   Proportional Software has announced and missed a number of
  18. shipping dates for our OS/2 2.0 compression utility, the DCF/2.
  19.  
  20.   For those of you who have not heard, Proportional Software
  21. has introduced the first dynamic disk compression technology
  22. for OS/2 Version 2.0. The DCF/2, or Disk Compression Facility/2
  23. allows users to increase their disk storage without affecting
  24. applications software or system behaviour.
  25.  
  26.   On-the-fly disk compression using the DCF/2 results in 35%
  27. to 70% additional disk space, depending on the types of
  28. information on the disk and the level of compression selected.
  29.  
  30.   The Proportional Software DCF/2 uses native OS/2 file
  31. structures to compress standard file information into less
  32. physical space -- resulting in making a hard disk appear
  33. bigger than it really is!
  34.  
  35.   DCF/2 compression compares favourably with the other
  36. programs, like Stacker(TM), Superstor(TM), and Doubledisk(TM)
  37. that do similiar disk compression for DOS.
  38.  
  39.   The situation has rightfully distressed those individuals
  40. who have ordered the product and anxiously await its delivery.
  41. It has been no less distressing to us at Proportional Software.
  42.  
  43.   We sincerely apologise for the delays and want you to know
  44. that we are as anxious as our customers are for the product's
  45. release.
  46.  
  47.   As a small company launching its first product into the mass
  48. market of the OS/2 world, we want the product [--] software
  49. and surrounding documentation [--] that we ship to be something
  50. of which we can be proud and which will meet both our standards
  51. and those of the OS/2 user.  It will ship. . . the week before
  52. COMDEX (COMDEX dates are Nov. 16-20).  We have sent final
  53. package samples to our IBM coordinator in Boca for her general
  54. review.
