- I have had OS/2 for quite a while, but still consider myself a newbie.
- For the last year I had a 386/33 with 4Megs of memory; OS/2 installed
- but was essentially unusable.
-
- I now have a 486/50 with 16M of memory. First I tried to simply
- place my old drive in the new machine and boot OS/2. It got past
- the first few screens, switched to text mode, then croaked.
-
- Since then, I have reformated that partition (117M) and attempted to
- reinstall. Once again, this gets most of the way through the install (it
- even loads the PM during the install) then dies. No message, no nothin'.
- The drive just sits there running.
-
- I really, really want to run OS/2, but I can't even get the damn thing
- to boot.
-
- Here is my current configuration:
- 486/50 64K Cache (OPTI Chipset) - I am going to up the cache
- to 256K soon
- 16M Memory
- ATI BIOS (Version ?)
- 1 Connor 3704F(?) 210M IDE (Drive 1)
- 1 Maxtor 210M IDE (Drive 2)
- Diamond Speedstar 24X - Soon to become and Orchid F1280
- Z-Nix Mouse
-
-
- Any suggestions? Sorry if this has been covered in the past, but like
- I said, I am a newbie.
-
-
- Thanks,
- Scott
