  13. I have had OS/2 for quite a while, but still consider myself a newbie.
  14. For the last year I had a 386/33 with 4Megs of memory;  OS/2 installed
  15. but was essentially unusable.

  17. I now have a 486/50 with 16M of memory.  First I tried to simply
  18. place my old drive in the new machine and boot OS/2.  It got past
  19. the first few screens, switched to text mode, then croaked.
  20.  
  21. Since then, I have reformated that partition (117M) and attempted to
  22. reinstall.  Once again, this gets most of the way through the install (it
  23. even loads the PM during the install) then dies.  No message, no nothin'.
  24. The drive just sits there running.

  26. I really, really want to run OS/2, but I can't even get the damn thing
  27. to boot.

  29. Here is my current configuration:
  30.    486/50 64K Cache           (OPTI Chipset)   -  I am going to up the cache 
  31.                                                   to 256K soon
  32.    16M Memory
  33.    ATI BIOS                   (Version ?)
  34.    1 Connor 3704F(?) 210M IDE (Drive 1)
  35.    1 Maxtor 210M IDE          (Drive 2)
  36.    Diamond Speedstar 24X                       - Soon to become and Orchid F1280
  37.    Z-Nix Mouse

  40. Any suggestions?  Sorry if this has been covered in the past, but like
  41. I said, I am a newbie.
