- I want to do the following:
-
- 1)Copy my desktop directory and os2.ini and os2sys.ini to a backup
- directory everytime I boot-up OS2.
- 2)Copy desktop, os2.ini and os2sys.ini when I exit (shut-down) to a different
- backup directory.
-
- I want to do the above so that if I trash my desktop, I can restore it.
- I want both backups for more robust recovery.
-
- I figured all it would take is a batch file (.cmd right?). I would put one
- batch file to be called by autoexec.bat (does OS2 run an autoexec? IF not,
- where can I put it to be run automatically?) and another batch file using
- "onexit", a utility copied from hobbes which supposedly runs a .exe or .cmd
- on shutting down.
-
- I thought that I could use xcopy /s (/v /e /o etc.) to copy the destop dir and
- copy to copy the 2 .ini files. However, for some reason, only the Template
- dir is copied? Why?
- Perhaps the more serious problem is that OS2 won't let me copy the .ini files
- because they are in use by the system. How do I get around this?
-
- Lastly, suppose is it possible to write a .cmd batch file an create an icon
- for it and run it from the WPS?
-
-
- Any and all info on the above problems would be greatly appreciated.
- Please email (and post if you want) as I often blindy mark this newsgroup
- as read due to large volume and limited perusal time. (yes, I know how
- to scan subjects, but email is easier)
-
- Thanks, Terence
