- After installing the service pak last weekend, I have seen several
- problems.
-
- 1) Deskpic now locks up machine. After some period of time with
- screen saver running, system locked hard and big red switch
- required.
- 2) PMHPO won't open. No message, just some disk activity and and
- standard emphasis on icon. Task list does not show PMHPO.
- 3) After applying SP, icons missing from several of the OS/2
- folders. Most apparent one was system clock. I did not close all
- processes before putting on services pack. Could this be the
- problem? ALso missing productivity folder contents and startup icon.
- I moved some folders and closed everything in preparation for a
- complete reinstall, but everything reappeared on next boot. Curious.
- 2a) I reinstalled new copy of PMHPO and still can't start it.
- 4) Window opening and object movement on WPS strangely slow
- sometimes. ALso ghost images sometimes left behind when moving
- windows. Inconsistent.
- 5) PS/2 mod 75 ordinary machine. Nothing unusual during install
- except mod WOACC?.exe had later date than SP. Replaced. Couldn't
- understand reference in readme about ALT-F1 sequence to reinstall
- old desktop: normal install step or for recovering previous service
- level?
- 6) Don't think swap is shrinking but haven't observed closely. ALso
- don't think memory is always being freed after apps close or at
- least don't recover all memory previously available before app
- started.
-
- I haven't seen anyplace here or on OS2BBS where anybody is
- accumulating tips 'n techniques on the service pack. Might be a
- useful chore for an IBM'er
- old desktop. Normal installation step or emergency restart
