- Based on the advice from several of you, I did the Selective Install
- to get my 640x480x256 resolution and everything seems to have worked
- just fine.
-
- For the benefit of anyone reading this who wants to know the process
- I followed:
-
- - From DOS: SVGA OFF
- - OS/2 system folder to Selective Install
- - Mark primary display, and ok
- - Mark SVGA (mine was already on)
- - More ok's...
- - Finally it asked for Disk 6 (the GA - OS/2 2.0 product disks)
- - It went through many of them.
- - Then it asks for the resolution.
- - Finally, inserted the Display diskettes from the Service Pak.
- - Reboot
- - From DOS: SVGA ON
-
- Now Gary Hennigan suggested using just DSPINSTL from an OS/2 prompt.
- I read that too late to try it myself, but sounds like a good short-
- cut.
-
- I saved a DIR /S listing before and after my procedure and compared.
- I found that some font files had changed (HELV, TIMES, COURIER) and
- gotten larger. I don't know if it picked these off of the GA disks
- or the CSD disks. Anyone know? It also replaced IBMVGA32.DLL and
- IBMDEV32.DLL (which could only have come from the CSD). Also, we
- added WSPDT480.DRV and WSST480.DRV (or something like that, my
- post-it is a little fuzzy where I wrote that done).
-
- My SWAPPER.DAT runs a little large now (I saw it around 8M when I
- had a few things open). So it goes. I'm happy. Thanks to those who
- offered advice on this.
