- For those that don't already know, DLC is an implementation of the IEEE
- 802.2 protocol stack (aka LLC). It is widely used in IBM environments.
-
- Who needs it? Well, TCP/IP doesn't. Neither does NetBEUI or Netbios.
- It is used by applications that speak 802.2. These are largely terminal
- emulators that talk to IBM mainframes.
-
- It is also used by Hewlett-Packard's JetDirect card (that's the network
- card you plug into the back of your LaserJet so you can hook it directly
- to the network). The software that talks to the JetDirect card ships on the
- Windows NT CD-ROM (as of the October Beta) and requires the DLC transport.
