- On a number of occasions I've returned to my computer to find the
- screen blank except for the "Cannot read from drive B:" dialog. There
- is no disk in the drive, so I hit cancel, the dialog goes away and and
- the screen saver kicks in (I have it set to Blank Screen). I think
- this happens after I have accessed the floppy drive from within a
- program, and then taken the floppy out. For instance, I do this when
- uploading a file from the floppy in a comm program; when the upload is
- finished the program *should* no longer need to access the drive.
- What I don't understand is why the screen saver checks the drives
- before kicking in.
-
- Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon, and can anyone explain it to
- me? Should I worry that it's possibly something more sinister (a
- virus randomly accessing drives?)?
