- Well, I guess I wasn't very clear about what I meant. I mean that PC Mag
- and the others should come up with a new way of benchmarking *video*
- performance for individual machines. (i.e. WINMARK is possibly no longer
- a benchmark with any integrity.) This could be done by examining how
- long it takes Corel Draw to do a redraw, how long it takes Excel to draw
- a graph, etc. They may do this for individual software products, but
- then they're comparing software, not hardware. I'm talking about a new
- way to benchmark and compare hardware platforms, specifically video
- performance. Last time I checked (Sept. 15 is the last comprehensive
- system review -- DX2-50's), PC Magazine only offers low-level benchmarks
- when reviewing systems.
-
- Byte does a decent job of giving application benchmarks, I think.
