- Just got the flyer from Microsoft advertising their "$695" database
- for a mere $99 until next February. Just a few questions.
-
- 1. Has there been any comparison done between Access and other
- databases (eg Foxpro, Paradox, Clipper, etc) as far as speed, power,
- capabilities, etc go? I'd appreciate any pointers to magazines,
- files, etc.
-
- 2. The flyer promotes it as a developers package as well as for the
- "non-programmer". What kind of development support comes with it? Is
- there a separate run-time module/package, or does it come with Access?
- What about licensing for distribution?
-
- 3. WHERE IS MICROSOFT GOING? They bought FoxPro, but when I see $199
- special pricing as a competitive upgrade to a $500 Foxpro and then $99
- to anyone for a supposed $695 product, I can't help but think that
- they're putting more emphasis on Access. Anyone capable of shedding
- some insight on this? I almost bought Foxpro to begin some
- development, but now I'm wondering if I should get Access instead.
-
- Any response will be appreciated. I'll post a summary when I get a
- chance.
-
- Thanks
- Pete Kruckenberg
