  14. I have several questions regarding X and video boards.  I am thinking
  15. of buying a computer that comes packaged with a paradise windows accl.
  16. SVGA video card based on the WD9031.  My questions are the following:

  18. 1) Does X under linux currently support this chip?
  19.  
  20. 2) If not, what is involved in writting a driver for a particular
  21. card?
  22.  
  23. 3) I believe that this is a propreitary card.  Does this mean that it
  24. will be impossible to write a driver for the card or that in all
  25. liklihood a driver will never be written?
  26.  
  27. 4) How will the card perform without a driver, (it dose support
  28. the VESA bios extensions) does this mean that I will be able to run X
  29. in 1024x728 resolution but I will not be able to take advantage of the
  30. chips acceleration functions, or will I be restricted to lower resolutions?
