  29. I ran into the same problem. Looking into the other Xconfig files, you'll
  30. notice that some of them don't have the Speedo or the Type1 dirs in the 
  31. font path. So I removed these two from my Xconfig, leaving only the
  32. 75dpi and the misc dirs in the font path. Then X worked fine.

  34. I still haven't been able to get X to use the Type1, Speedo or Bitstream
  35. Type1 fonts yet, though.

  37. Also, make sure that the fonts are compressed and that there is a good
  38. font directory in that dir (i.e. use mkfontdir)...
