  25. DESCRIPTION: This tutorial will cover both theoretical and practical
  26. aspects of the perception and use of colour in computer graphics and
  27. imaging applications.  The morning sessions will provide an overview of how
  28. we see, organise and model colour, with reference to recent research into
  29. colour appearance modelling.  The afternoon sessions will deal with
  30. displays and printing processes, with practical techniques for calibration
  31. and colour control, plus guidelines for making the best use of colour for
  32. the presentation of information in displays. The tutorial comprises four
  33. modules, as follows:

  35.    - Light, colour and human vision
  36.    - Colour appearance and modelling
  37.    - Reproduction of colour in display and print
  38.    - Guidelines for using colour effectively in displays
  39.  
  40. LINDSAY MACDONALD is a Senior Consultant at Crosfield Electronics Ltd., the
  41. world's leading supplier of electronic pre-press systems for high quality
  42. reproduction of images in print.  His interests lie in colour modelling,
  43. computer graphics, image processing and user interface design and he is the
  44. holder of 16 patents in these fields.  He was project manager of the
  45. CARISMA research project in collaboration with Loughborough University,
  46. supported by the DTI under the IEATP programme.  He is also a member of the
  47. BSI committee shadowing the development of ISO 9241 on the Ergonomics of
  48. Visual Display Terminals and was invited recently by the EC to serve as a
  49. technical evaluator for proposals in Esprit III.  He is a member of both
  50. BCS and IEE.
