  14.     This is my first posting to the newsgroups, so please bear with me.
  15. I have access to a UUCP setup through a local DOS-based BBS through
  16. Waffle software.  My machine is an older IBM PC/XT (8088) with 640K
  17. running DOS3.1, using a Practical Peripherals 2400SA modem.  My problem is
  18. that while I am connecting to the BBS at 2400 baud, getting through the
  19. logon script into the UUCP software, I get the following message:

  21.         msg: timeout waiting for sync
  22.  
  23. and then I lose carrier-detect and my modem hangs up.  Has anyone out
  24. there run into this (or similar) problem, and could lend some help?
  25.     I access this local BBS and UUCP daily from my machine at work, but 
  26. would like to do some of this at home, especially on the weekends.
  27.     Please respond via mail, as the sysop of my local BBS does not
  28. receive this particular newsgroup.  I will post a summary of any/all
  29. responses I receive.
