- I agree to this and actually trying to throw together a widget set
- from various existing software. I am approaching the problem from
- bottom up and not making a single "multi-media widget". Instead, I am
- trying to build a widget for each content type. So far I have just
- been able to get prototype of Raster Image widget and working on
- multifont ISO2022 text widget now (I approach the problem from ODA
- direction, so I have not yet tackled any tagged text contents, but as
- ISO202 + ANSI control sequences for effects are implemented, it
- wouldn't be a big job to convert rich text into such byte stream and
- feed to widget). The raster widget currently takes GIF, JPEG/JFIF and
- TIFF (using Sam Leflers tifflib v3.1 and jpegsrc.v3 libraries).
-
- I am hoping to get my hands on some MPEG source code that runs on Unix
- (actually Sun IPX) so that I could mold into video widget. Actually,
- would be interested in hearing ideas how such could be built, as there
- might be multiple instances of such widget running simultaneously.
-
- No plans yet how to make widgets for Postscript and CGM. Maybe, if the
- author of Ghostscript package turned a widget version out of it?
-
- While back I posted a notice about this into comp.window.x under title
- new data presentation widget set (Xew). It is still uncertion what the
- status of this work is, because I am doing it on EuroBridge (RACE
- 2008) project.
