  11. I recently posted regarding what services were available for transfer of
  12. high-resolution digital animations to 35mm movie film.  I received a
  13. large number of _very_ helpful responses.  As I received 4 more in today's
  14. mailbox I want to wait until after the weekend to post a summary.

  16. We do computer animations on video, mostly for accident reconstruction and
  17. scientific visualization.  We have a client who is very interested
  18. in getting animations of their scientific data before a large audience
  19. at science centers or similar environments.

  21. Two rather interesting possibilities for this project are:
  22.  
  23. 1) IMAX/OMNIMAX format (maybe even in polarized stereo 3D)
  24. 2) The Evans & Sutherland DIGISTAR planetarium projection system
  25.    (Apparently this is a real-time non-stereo 3D-geometry system)
  26.

  29.   -- offers services for IMAX film format work
  30.      (Digital image recording, processing, etc.)
  31.   -- has made an IMAX or OMNIMAX film and has antecdotal info regarding
  32.      production costs or problems with the format
  33.   -- creates DIGISTAR presentations
  34.   -- has had experience with DIGISTAR geometry formats, camera motion
  35.      formats, etc.

  38. I receive.  Because we are trying to come up with possible budget ranges for
  39. this project, I am particularly interested in pricing information
  40. (approximate information is fine).
