- Sorry this isn't quite what this group is about :-)
-
- I am writing on behalf of friends who work for a software firm who
- produce Aerospace software which runs on Data General Aviions, and who
- are still trying to convince management to connect them to the net.
-
- One of their products is a real-time radar training simulator under
- 'X Windows' which must perform a full 'military' radar simulation (ie.
- have chaff, jamming, etc). Currently the performance of the radar is
- very slow (using XDrawFilled - Polygon as phosphor fading must be
- simulated), and they are interested in approaches which could speed up
- drawing (and radar plot calculation if any good algorithms are around -
- they have around 20000 paints on a 500x500 window in a 5 second period,
- including fading.
-
- A number of standard techniques, like using colour maps are not
- appropriate as a large number of colours must be allocated to other
- parts of the system.
-
- Any useful suggestions would be appreciated (Hardware is not an
- option :-)
-
- Regards,
- Rohan Lenard
