  13. I'm looking into buying a 14.4K external modem, with FAX, for a
  14. Macintosh.  I've just started reading this group (just went back and
  15. read the last 400 or so messages) --- it's been very informative.
  16. But, I didn't notice anything about the "Magic Modems" entry into the
  17. 14.4K/Fax field.  Is it just a repackaging of some other modem?  Yet
  18. Another Rockwell Chip Set modem?  Likely to be unreliable on noisy
  19. lines?  At the price (around $270) it seemed >very< attractive.  Is
  20. this just false economy?

  22. It's been advertised (at least) these last three months in MacWorld.
  23. Does anyone have any experience with them?  Any real info?

  25. Dial-out, Fax out and Fax in would be common.  Dial-in very
  26. occasionally, but probably usually at the lower speeds anyway.
