- "Someone" is right. The CCITT does not "approve" anything.
- Manufacturers can claim compliance to CCITT standards. The
- Tiawanese government (like most governments) probably requires
- modems to abide by certain regulations to be connected to your
- telephone network, but I am absolutely positive that USR is not the
- only modem with such approval.

- Anyone can buy CCITT Recommendations. They are probably available
- through your national standards organization. They're also
- available through the International Telecommunications Union in
- Geneva, and through several outlets in the USA.
