-
- don't have the Sportster...sorry. I use the USR DS. but I do have a
- few suggestions.....
-
- first, before you get out the flamethrower, have you even talked to USR
- about this? from your post, it doesn't sound like you've called their
- tech support yet. give them a call. explain your situation (calmly!)
- to them, and ask what's up. you'll get a lot farther by doing that than
- you will by flaming the net (or USR) for your modem's problems.
-
- my experience has been that if there's a problem, they usually know
- about it and have a fix handy before you've finished your description.
- and if they don't already know about the problem you're describing,
- they take the modem (theirs, not yours) into the lab and see if they
- can duplicate it right away, and then call you back (btw, this
- experience is from tests of one of their other modems that, at the time,
- was brand new --- I've yet to have any problems with the USR DS).

-
- if you want to ask USR these questions (I suggest trying to get the
- problem fixed via the tech support folks first), you should perhaps
- ask them.... USR does not have a formal presence on the net, as far
- as I know, so you're not getting very far directing these flames to
- the net.
-
- and again, before you call tech support, calm down a bit, eh? you'll
- get nowhere starting right out flaming them. on the other hand, if you
- calmly, rationally describe the problems you're seeing, they just might
- be able to help you right then and there. your choice.
