- just claiming so, thus making it look like your mistake.

- then compile a list of fair options or actions to take given the
- circumstances. You have already begun to do this (eg. average
- the remaining tests, make the student write the exam)

- Step 3: Explain the situation honestly to the student.

- Step 4: Apologize for the inconvenience.

- Step 5: Require the student to select one course of action from the list
- of options you present to the student. Allow for the student to
- have superior ability in developing options. Listen and consider
- all options presented by the student (if any). Invite the student
- to present better options.
