- Or, if you can't get rid of the word "remedial" on your campus, spread it
- around a little. Since most students had Chemistry in high school, the intro
- chemistry course is "remedial," as are the intro physics and biology courses.
- The intro political science course and U. S. History are also remedial (kids
- have had that material over and over again in high school), and let's not
- forget intro to lit or the surveys--all "remedial." It seems unfair to me that
- students who don't come in to college writing like college grads should be
- dubbed in need of remediation when rehashing U. S. history or the basics of
- chemistry is "real" college stuff. Rubbish.
