  13. Or, if you can't get rid of the word "remedial" on your campus, spread it
  14. around a little. Since most students had Chemistry in high school, the intro
  15. chemistry course is "remedial," as are the intro physics and biology courses.
  16. The intro political science course and U. S. History are also remedial (kids
  17. have had that material over and over again in high school), and let's not
  18. forget intro to lit or the surveys--all "remedial." It seems unfair to me that
  19. students who don't come in to college writing like college grads should be
  20. dubbed in need of remediation when rehashing U. S. history or the basics of
  21. chemistry is "real" college stuff. Rubbish.
