- Wayne Debly responds to the request for simple/cheap laserdisc
- control software for PC?
-
- >How cheap and simple do you want it?
-
- That is always a key question.
-
- >Do you want the lazer disk output to be put on your computer screen?
- > If yes then you will need a video card e.g. DVI4000 for $3000
- > or if you have a micro channel then M-Motion Card $2000??
-
- Fortunately, technology is improving as prices are coming down.
- The "SCHOOLBOARD" Multimedia Video Adapter sells for $876. This
- overlay board emulates the IBM M Motion Adapter A Board.
- IBM's is designed for microchannel while the SCHOOLBOARD runs on
- the AT bus. It was designed so one could run microchannel software,
- such as Smith and Jones' Comprehensive Chemistry Curriculum, a four
- videodisc set, on a clone.
- I haven't installed it yet and will report later on how it works.
-
- Would appreciate communicating with anyone else with the SCHOOLBOARD.
-
- Falcon software markets the board at:
-
- Ff you want to go real cheap, get the Apple out and use "Tutor-Tech 2.7"
- at $195 from Techware, 1-800-34-REACH or International 1-407-695-9000.
- It's like Hypercard.
-
- We are using QUEST (Allen Communications) but it is not cheap, but it
- is versatile!!!
-
- Free Enterprise is great. There's a product for every niche.
