  26. Our CWIS is open and we feel this is appropriate.  We have encouraged
  27. offices to make information available in this manner to readh people
  28. who are not computer oriented through public terminals.  Some of these
  29. terminals located in public locations have been completely supported
  30. by this office, while some offices have borne the expense of the
  31. hardware, communications wiring and terminal stands.  We don,t charge
  32. the faculty and staff for the weekly newsletter distributed in
  33. hardcopy and we don.t charge the students for a copy of the student
  34. newspaper because these provide information that everyone should have
  35. or at least have the choice of getting the information.

  37. We had 83,000 pages accessed in September and 79,000 in October so
  38. there is an interest in the information on the system and much of the
  39. information is supportive of University processes of registration,
  40. library use, intramural sports.

  42. We do know how many accesses we have to pages and we know how many of
  43. those pages were accessed from public terminals.  But, as in the
  44. library, there should not be a process that would allow anyone to find
  45. out what people are accessing.
