  14. I've updated the list of services you can connect to via Internet. Please
  15. note that the directory path has changed -- we added another level, cwis.
  16. We can put other cwis information of interest in this directory. (Sunsite,
  17. the ftp host, is a new service provided by Sun and operated by UNC-CH for
  18. "providing education software, shareware, and other useful electronic
  19. materials.")

  21. The first part of the file with instructions for ftping it is included
  22. below.

  36. The following is information from the listserver CWIS-L@WUVMD.BITNET,

  40. You can pick up this list by anonymous ftp to sunsite.unc.edu;
  41. cd pub/docs/about-the-net/cwis, get cwis-l (that's the letter l).

  44. Using UNC's laUNChpad system or LIBS on the UNC-CH VAX
  45.  
  46. The laUNChpad System (formerly the BBS), offered by UNC-CH, can connect
  47. you to many of the information systems in this list. You may access
  48. launchpad through telnet, using launchpad.unc.edu as the connection.  For
  49. "username" type 'launchpad'.  When you get laUNChpad's menu, select item
  50. 3, "On-line Information Systems (LIBTEL)."

  52. Or you can use similar software on the UNC-CH DEC VAX computer's VMS
  53. service.  Connect to uncvx1.oit.unc.edu;  for "username" type LIBTEL.
  54. When you get the LIBS menu, select item 3 "Campus-wide Information
  55. Systems."

  57. The two systems are quite similar, presenting essentially the same
  58. information using different menus.  LaUNCHpad automates more of the
  59. connection steps.
