- My name is Bonnie Andrus and I work for The University of
- Wisconsin-Parkside and I am the Circulation Supervisor titled as LSA V.
- Recently we have had the problem of patrons harrassing student workers on
- our third floor while either shelving a cart or shelf reading. Our campus
- Security sent up a Crime Prevention Officer and demonstrated a system
- which sounds like a car alarm going off. We don't want to scare anyone
- and we don't want anyone to get the impression that this is an unsafe
- place to work. The University itself doesn't have very many problems with
- this sort of thing however this sort of thing can happen anywhere anytime.
- We thought a better idea would be to implement some sort of self defense
- techniques in our student worker orientations. Does anyone out there do
- this sort of thing in their libraries? Or does anyone know of a video
- with this kind of thing for libraries?
