- I am looking for a BBS that operates like most remote unix machines. I
- plan to start a BBS on a 386/40, and I'll run anything (OS) that I need
- to to get this to work.
- Specifically, I'm looking for one that has a prompt similar to the
- MSDOS 'c:>' or to a unix '%' prompt. In other words, I don't want the user
- to have a dammed menu appear every time s/he wants to do something-
- i.e. the user enters the command (eg: read news, or 'sz picture.gif', etc )
-
- I want to create an information service, rather than a regular bbs. This
- means something equivalent to reading news on the net (although much smaller)
- being able to read(download) a newspaper online, as well as the usual
- mail, up/downloading, and other stuff normally found on most bbs's.
- I want to do all this for a fee (ie: most likely $1-2/hour), and eventually
- add an internet address. I own a company that does a bunch of different
- integrated computer stuff, and I need to set up a bbs for some customers
- anayway, so I thought that I would would offer everybody else a chance
- to get on it, and to also have fun with it.
- Think of a mini (really, really small) version of Compuserve, or a fairly
- elaborate bbs (potentially 20-30 lines)
-
- Any ideas of any software that can do some of this? I need it to be flexible
- for add ons if it doesn't do all of it.
-
- Thanks for any help
