- European Car magazine did an article on the Extrude Hone process. They took
- a pair of Porsche 911 heads and had one honed by Extrude Hone, and the other
- honed by an expert. The Extrude Honed head performed measurably (though not
- by much) better than the head honed the "old-fashioned" way when tested on
- a flow bench. The Extrude Hone process only takes off metal where there is
- a flow restriction, so chances are it won't open ports excessively. You
- should have to expect to replace the valve seats after a porting job anyway.
- European Car concluded that the process worked quite well.
-
- The place where Extrude Hone really shines is porting of manifolds. The
- traditional way of porting these is to cut them open, take off some metal,
- and weld them back together, which is time consuming and expensive. The
- Extrude Hone process is a much better solution for this application.

- Comparable, yes. Better, probably not. Cheaper in some cases, probably.
