- Hi, I've been wondering about the oil pressure readings I've been
- getting in my '81 Datsun/Nissan. The dashboard gauge is calibrated
- with a "6" (psi ?) at full scale. At normal engine speeds it reads
- 4 to 5 and all is fine. When idling at a red light, however, the
- needdle drops way down to 1 or lower.
-
- Does anyone know the most likely cause? It seems to me that either
- my oil pump is not working well at low revs, OR the sensor for the
- gauge behaves non-linearly when the pressure drops a bit (or maybe
- both!) Any ideas?
