- I think a good first step is to contact your local chapter of
- the Society for Technical Communication (STC), the professional
- organization of tech writers. (If you can't find them, e-mail me
- and I will try to find our their phone number.) The one here in
- Austin has a job bank and holds a monthly contractors' networking
- meeting in addition to a monthly chapter meeting.
-
- Also, try checking in the yellow pages for companies that do
- technical documentation preparation. You also may have luck
- with recruiters. Ask around of people you know in technical
- fields.
-
- I work in the high-tech industry (many of us here do), but there
- are other types of tech writing. To find out what the job
- market is like in Buffalo, your best bet is to check out the STC.
