- Marilyn Edelstein wonders whether, given reported problems with
- installation, it really is worthwhile upgrading to NB4. Though my copy
- of NB4 arrived only yesterday and I have played with it for less than
- two hours so far, I would say yes, it definitely is worthwhile getting
- the upgrade. First of all, the installation proceeded without a single
- hitch -- just be sure you install it in its own subdirectory (use the
- default NB4) and make sure your older version of NB is in the system
- path. And it works very nicely, once I discovered (rather remembered
- from the advice given on this list a while back) that after I installed
- my printer I also had to make it the default printer. In short, don't
- decide not to upgrade because of installation problems. On a standard
- system (no fancy tsrs or compression utilities) I believe there really
- are no problems with installation.
- And, even though I have had little chance to explore the program's
- features very fully, there is much to be pleased with. Just something
- as simple as being able to mark the beginning and end of a block then
- scrolling forward and marking more text for the same block is very nice.
- My very first impressions are very favorable, an impression that can
- easily get lost if we concentrate solely on real or imagined problems.
- I do not use Lingua which doubless simplifies everything.-- Bill
