- I was very impressed by the innovations in NB 4.0 TOC.
- There are various new codes/deltas with which you get
- much easier control of the TOC variables than in previous
- versions. However, I was disappointed that one of the
- best adds-on I've ever written for NB, creating TOC
- with virtual page numbers, has not been integrated into NB 4.0.
- I hardly ever use the regular numebrs TOC any more;
- when you change your text, or use a different format,
- or a different printer, you must re-do the whole thing,
- which is exasperating, esp. for large manuscripts.
-
- I have now decided to try and customize once more this simple
- utility in NB 4.0. The procedure this time is even simpler
- than it was before, because happily NBI have not encrypted
- this time the process: it's all in NB.HLP. I therefore had to
- add various segments in a number of places, and the feature
- seems to work.
-
- To make matters easier for prospective users, I've written
- an XPL pgm to make the whole installation. So all one has to
- do is make an extra copy of NB.HLP (renaming one copy),
- call it to screen, then run the program.
-
- If anybody is interested in testing this (I am not yet putting
- it in any archive, because it hasn't been fully debugged),
- please drop me a line (B10@taunivm / B10@vm.tau.ac.il).
