- The following is a response to Michael Moore's topic abstract concerning
- the question of theory in Distance Education:
-
- We would like to acknowledge a distinction between a scientific
- definition of theory and those found in education. An educational
- theory is looser in its definition, and might include:
- - explanation of phenomenon
- - a position
- - a philosophical construct
- - a model
- - proposed guidelines
- rather than an hypothesis to be proven right or wrong.
