- Sextant 1.0b21
-
- Sextant is a Gopher client for Macintosh. This is the second public, beta
- release. Please send comments, suggestions, and bug reports to the author.
-
- CHANGES
-
- Sextant now supports telnet item under System 7. Currently NCSA Telnet is
- used to open the connection. (Support for tn3270 is missing at this time.)
-
- Sextant nolonger ignores Gopher items it does not know how to use. Instead,
- these items are displayed in gray and are inactive. The user now has the
- opportunity to search for a tool to access these items.
-
- Sextant doesn't bother you about not having selected a printer.
-
- Sextant doesn't open the first item found in a search result. Most people
- found this too confusing.
-
- Sextant and UMN's Macintosh Gopher server coexist on the same Macintosh.
- (Very limited testing.)
-
- Removed TCP debugging code. This has increased Sextant's speed.
-
- Sextant now ignores '\r' when reading text from the network. This was done
- to allow Sextant to talk with Gopher servers that don't correctly implement
- the network end-of-line termination. (Users received a -23008 error in the
- past.)
-
- Imporved Error messages.
-
- SOURCE CODE
-
- The source code to Sextant will be made available early next week. To
- compile Sextant you will need THINK C and the THINK Class Library 1.1.2.
-
- AVAILABILITY
-
- Sextant is available via anonymous ftp at
-
- ftp.brown.edu
- /pub/gopher/Sextant1.0b21.sea.hqx
