- In 1992 we bought a DuKane 800 integrated OHP and LCD panel for $1440 plus
- cables and carrying case (educ discount price). It offers some color dif-
- ferentiation (but not true colors), plus reasonably good clarity for an
- inexpensive tool, but it does not support motion (either mouse or animation)
- sufficiently well for classroom use. Our Zenith MasterSport works well with it
- (VGA cable), and it has cables also for CGA and Mac. The latter, however,
- does not work with anything less than a MacII (video output of SE/30, for
- example, is distorted by the DuKane), so the dream of taking a portable
- Mac into the classroom withthe DuKane has not materialized.
-
- The DuKane weighs around 20 lbs and, while portable, is a lot to carry, along
- with portable computer and class materials. There are some models that look
- and operate more like a slide projector (without the carousel) than an OHP,
- and at least some of them (I think Apollo) are fully Mac-compatible also.
- God luck in shopping. Ted Mills, Faculty Resource Lab
