  12. HYTELNET version 6.3, the utility which gives an IBM-PC user
  13. instant-access to all Internet-accessible library catalogs, FREE-NETS,
  14. CWISs, BBSs, Gophers, WAIS, etc. is now available. You can get it via
  15. anonymous ftp from:

  19. in the pub/hytelnet/pc subdirectory. It is listed as HYTELN63.ZIP.

  21. Version 6.3 is a major upgrade. Much redundant information has been
  22. deleted, and errors have been corrected. New subdirectories have been
  23. added, which has meant that many files now have a more meaningful home.
  24. Also all the new/updated files created since Version 6.2 have been
  25. incorporated.

  27. Note: the UNZIPPED files total over 1.2 mb...but remember, you can 
  28. always edit out any information you do not need, in order to save space.

  30. Information from Roy Tennant follows, slightly edited, describing how to
  31. obtain HYTELNET 6.3 from the ftp site (thanks Roy)::

  33. TO RETRIEVE HYTELNET:
  34. At your system prompt, enter:               ftp access.usask.ca 
  35.       or                                    ftp 128.233.3.1
  36. When you receive the Name prompt, enter:    anonymous
  37. When you receive the password prompt, enter your Internet address.
  38. When you are at the ftp> prompt, enter:     binary
  39. At the next ftp> prompt, enter:             cd pub/hytelnet/pc
  40. Then enter:                                 get hyteln63.zip
  41. After the transfer has occurred, either
  42.    proceed with the instructions below to
  43.    retrieve the UNZIP utility (which you
  44.    need unless you already have it) or enter:   quit
  45.  
  46. The Hytelnet program is archived using a ZIP utility.  To unarchive it,
  47. you must be able to "unzip" the file.  If you have the file PKUNZIP.EXE,
  48. it will unarchive the HYTELN63.ZIP file (see below for instructions). If
  49. you do not have it, you may retrieve it with by following these
  50. instructions:

  52. TO RETRIEVE PKUNZIP:
  53. Use the above instructions for connecting to access.usask.ca  
  54. At the ftp> prompt, enter:                   binary
  55. Then enter:                                  cd pub/hytelnet/pc
  56. Then enter:                                  get pkunzip.exe
  57. After the transfer has occurred, enter:      quit
  58.  
  59. TO DOWNLOAD IT TO YOUR PC:
  60. Because of the plethora of PC communications programs, I will not
  61. attempt to give step-by-step instructions here.  You should check the
  62. instructions for your software for downloading a *binary* file from your
  63. Internet account to your PC.

  65. TO UNARCHIVE HYTELN63.ZIP:
  66. Make a new directory on your hard disk (e.g., mkdir hytelnet)
  67. Copy PKUNZIP.EXE and HYTELN63.ZIP into the new directory
  68. Make sure you are in that directory, then enter: pkunzip HYTELN63
  69. It will then unarchive HYTELN63.ZIP, which contains the following files:

  71.                              HYTELNET.ZIP
  72.                              READNOW

  74. The file READNOW. gives full instructions for un-archiving HYTELNET.ZIP.
  75. Simply put, you **MUST** unZIP the file with the -d parameter so that
  76. all the subdirectories will be recursed.

  78. To use HYTELNET, you should refer to the instructions in the release 
  79. announcement by Peter Scott, or to the README file included with the 
  80. package.

  83. who are unfamiliar with the steps required to download and use files 
  84. from network sources.  I cannot be responsible for any local variations 
  85. in these procedures which may exist.  Please contact your local computer
