- and Tutorial
-
- SPEAKER: Jon Cargille
-
- WHEN: Friday, September 25th, 2:00 - 3:30 pm
-
- WHERE: SDSC Auditorium
-
- ABSTRACT:
-
- IPS-2 is a performance measurement and analysis tool for parallel and
- distributed programs. It automatically instruments programs, and
- analyzes post-mortem execution traces. It provides the programmer
- with a wide variety of ways to view and analyze performance data, and
- thus aids in locating performance bottlenecks. This talk is intended
- to give potential users of IPS-2 a broad overview of its features and
- capabilities. In addition, it will include a tutorial portion
- focusing on ways to use the tool effectively. A demo will follow the
- talk, showing the tool at work on real programs.
-
- ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
-
- Jon Cargille is a gradudate student at the University of Wisconsin at
- Madison. He earned his Master's Degree in Computer Science from the
- UW in 1990, and has been a part of the IPS-2 project for a year and a
- half. Jon was responsible for porting IPS-2 to the Cray Y-MP.
