  27. ABSTRACT:

  29. IPS-2 is a performance measurement and analysis tool for parallel and
  30. distributed programs.  It automatically instruments programs, and
  31. analyzes post-mortem execution traces.  It provides the programmer
  32. with a wide variety of ways to view and analyze performance data, and
  33. thus aids in locating performance bottlenecks.  This talk is intended
  34. to give potential users of IPS-2 a broad overview of its features and
  35. capabilities.  In addition, it will include a tutorial portion
  36. focusing on ways to use the tool effectively.  A demo will follow the
  37. talk, showing the tool at work on real programs.

  39. ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
  40.  
  41. Jon Cargille is a gradudate student at the University of Wisconsin at
  42. Madison.  He earned his Master's Degree in Computer Science from the
  43. UW in 1990, and has been a part of the IPS-2 project for a year and a
  44. half.  Jon was responsible for porting IPS-2 to the Cray Y-MP.
