- This just goes to show you. I have no doubt that Hannu and the rest
- of the Finns have heard of "Mickey Mouse." How is it that "Popeye"
- does not have the same world-wide renown?
-
- For those who have never heard of him, Popeye is a fictional American
- cartoon and comic-strip character. He is the one who gains superhuman
- strengh whenever he eats a can of spinach. In his own dialect, his
- slogan is,
-
- "I YAM WHAT I YAM, AND THAT'S ALL WHAT I YAM,
- I'M POPEYE, THE SAILOR MAN."
-
- With all that, no matter how many times he asserts, "I AM WHAT I AM,"
- he is still a fictional character. Therefore, one may not prove the
- existence of a being solely on the basis that he is quoted as having
- said, "I AM WHAT I AM." Let Popeye appear in thunder and lightning
- and smoke to six hundred thousand men with their wives and children
- and tell them, "I AM," and then I'll believe he exists.
