  10. Hi I'm looking for something like the NCR 5380 SCSI controller?

  12. Is this chip "fixed"?  Someone told me that they did not follow
  13. the spec properly in the Automatic/DMA mode for SCSI.  What they
  14. said was that in REQ/ACK handshaking it sent an ACK before it
  15. recieved an REQ, and it did not follow the timeing specs.  If in
  16. Programmed IO mode it worked fine.

  18. Has this been corrected or are thier other chips available that
  19. are fully compliant to the standard?  I don't need GREAT speed
  20. but I don't want to have to put a dedicated processor for just
  21. handling SCSI IO.  Though it might be cheaper.

  23. ALSO where can I get a hold of a 74F653?  This was recomended
  24. instead of using the NCR5380, and using a dedicated micro
  25. (controller/ proccessor) to perform the actual SCSI IO.  Would a
  26. Z80A be able to do this?  Or would a 68B09 be better?  Or
  27. something like a 6805?
