- Hi I'm looking for something like the NCR 5380 SCSI controller?
-
- Is this chip "fixed"? Someone told me that they did not follow
- the spec properly in the Automatic/DMA mode for SCSI. What they
- said was that in REQ/ACK handshaking it sent an ACK before it
- recieved an REQ, and it did not follow the timeing specs. If in
- Programmed IO mode it worked fine.
-
- Has this been corrected or are thier other chips available that
- are fully compliant to the standard? I don't need GREAT speed
- but I don't want to have to put a dedicated processor for just
- handling SCSI IO. Though it might be cheaper.
-
- ALSO where can I get a hold of a 74F653? This was recomended
- instead of using the NCR5380, and using a dedicated micro
- (controller/ proccessor) to perform the actual SCSI IO. Would a
- Z80A be able to do this? Or would a 68B09 be better? Or
- something like a 6805?
