- Hi. I have a panel display of BCD thumbwheels I'd like to decipher into
- binary: 4 or 5 decades of BCD to 12 or 16 bits of binary. TI used to make
- some ROM based parts for this, the '484 and '184 parts, but they're out of
- production. They also took something like 11 parts for 4 decades, by
- cascading a lot of 6 bit to 6 bit decoders.
-
- Does anyone have either the Jedec files for a reasonably sized EPROM decoder
- for 4 decades, or a clever implementation of a several decade decoder in a
- PAL? I don't have the board space for ~11 chips for a set of one decade
- decoders wired up for decoding 4 decades.
-
- But I could fit ~5 2 decade decoders to get the 4 decades. I'd really prefer
- to wire up ~5 and get *5* decades, though.
-
- In addition: has anyone got a decent PAL setup for controlling and
- pre-loading the Harris 82C52 UART? It would save me board space and power
- over the 6402 I'm using now: the PAL's I'm using are GAL22V10's.
-
- Thanks for the help....
