- My halogen light recently died.
-
- It is rated at 500 watts and requires a "Type J" bulb.
- I replaced the bulb with a 300 watt one but nothing on the
- package indicated a "type J". Nevertheless, it fit nicely
- into the socket.
-
- The lamp still doesn't work.
-
- I opened the switch and found a 250 volts, 6 amp line fuse
- that appeared to be intact.
-
- Does anyone know what might be wrong? Do I need to
- find a bulb that specifically says 500 watts type J?
-
- Should I try replacing the fuse?
-
-
- I know I am not supposed to touch the bulb with my
- hands but other that that, I don't know anything about
- these lamps. Are they unreliable? Is there something else
- I could check?
-
- Any help would be much appreciated.
