- I recently had a similar experience. A few weeks ago, I changed a
- leaky oil-pan gasket on my Oldsmobile (3.0l V6 with 118,000 miles).
- I have been using Mobil-1 in this engine ever since about 30,000 miles.
- What I expected to see was the gray silly-putty like sludge in the deep
- recesses of the oil pan, but to my surprise there was absolutely no
- film or sludge present... just a faint carmel-colored varnish.
- Moreover, inspection of the bottom-end revealed no measurable wear.
-
- I do not know if this is a testimony of Mobil-1 oil, the effectiveness
- of the oil-pump/filter, or this engine's longevity; but the combination
- appears to leave good results.
