  13. Anyone know whether there are replacement eproms for the '89 Escort GT's
  14. (EEC IV) to improve the performance a little?

  16. Also, is anyone familiar with the function of the octane rod on the 
  17. distributor?  I've found that the only gas the engine will run smoothly
  18. on is bottom of the line 87 octane...any higher and it gets buzzy and
  19. picks up a "lurch" from the start, and starts idling fast (about 1250 RPM,
  20. sometimes oscillating up and down a bit).

  22. I've tried fooling around with the base timing (ie. with the spout connector
  23. plug removed)... seems to run a lot smoother at the low end when I set
  24. the base timing from 10 degrees BTDC to about 12-14 degrees, and the high
  25. end RPM's really smooth out and quiet down.
