- Unfortunately, some cars *do* smoke at startup. A friend's '90
- Corvette huffs a cloud of blue smoke in the morning. In the owner's
- manual is a prominently printed warning: GM won't consider warranty
- repair unless the car uses more than a quart of oil every 1500 miles.
- For a new $39,000 car? Yup. Seems they've reduced the tension on the
- oil rings, the valve stem seals have also been changed, etc, all in the
- name of reducing internal friction. So the car uses oil.
