  23. I suspect that many people would be outraged at such an action.  However,
  24. those same people are applauding the removal of books which only offend
  25. a certain portion of the audience.

  32. Hey, "Baptist" is not equivalent to "hard-line conservative"!  
  33. Some of us are quite middle-of-the-road; we don't even *HAVE* a
  34. "Baptist Snarl".  8)

  36. I see no problem in allowing one's customers decide the fate of a
  37. particular book.  Let it stay on the shelves; if 'the masses' don't
  38. like it, they won't buy it!  If it doesn't sell, the bookstore will,
  39. in all likelihood, remove it from stock "Real Soon Now".

  41. Most people are quite capable of making their own decisions.  I sub-
  42. scribe to _Rolling Stone_; I may not approve of everything the maga-
  43. zine prints, but I prefer to make those decisions myself.

  45. I don't understand the "Christian" folks who argue for the removal
  46. of texts (or portions thereof).  I've always believed that Christianity
  47. is based on the notion of "free will".  Man cannot be forced into faith;
  48. he must make that decision on his own.  I find it utterly presumptuous
  49. (and pompous) for another person to prevent (or attempt to prevent) me
  50. from reading some "unacceptable" text.  I'll make that decision all by
  51. myself, thank you very much; it's a decision to be made by my own sense
  52. of faith (call it conscience, if you prefer).
