  12. Time to buy firewood.  Around here, I can get a half-cord (2x4x8 or so)
  13. of hickory, maple, and/or alder (mix or pure) for about $65 (Canadian).

  15. What's best?  They're all supposedly "hard woods" (i.e. not fir :-) ),
  16. but I wonder which burns best, longest, hottest, most fragrantly, etc.

  18. Oh, this is to be burned in our normal fireplace, not in any hi-tech
  19. woodstove.  Yes, I know about the warm inside air going right up the
  20. chimney, thanks.  We still like to burn some wood in the winter.
  21. Especially on those long winter nights after the kiddies are asleep. :-)
