- Time to buy firewood. Around here, I can get a half-cord (2x4x8 or so)
- of hickory, maple, and/or alder (mix or pure) for about $65 (Canadian).
-
- What's best? They're all supposedly "hard woods" (i.e. not fir :-) ),
- but I wonder which burns best, longest, hottest, most fragrantly, etc.
-
- Oh, this is to be burned in our normal fireplace, not in any hi-tech
- woodstove. Yes, I know about the warm inside air going right up the
- chimney, thanks. We still like to burn some wood in the winter.
- Especially on those long winter nights after the kiddies are asleep. :-)
-
- Thanks in advance for any advice.
