- /* ---------- "POINTER: Drs w/o Borders Press Re." ---------- */
- A new press release from Doctors Without Borders is posted in the soc.cult.
- afric conference.
-
- There is also a post entitled "Food delayed, mass deaths" which gives
- in some detail the account in the New York Times of how UN delays and
- puzzling US decisions continue while Somalians perish.
-
- Phone and fax numbers for the House Select Committee on Hunger and
- the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on African Affairs are also
- posted.
-
- I have also posted an appeal for people to please act again. We got results
- before. But when public attention slips away, or people are persuaded the
- problem is solved, the governments and the UN sink back into inaction.
- I earnestly hope people will continue to press for massive aid.
-
- Fundraising actions are good, and draw attention to the problem, but
- time has almost run out. Goverments have to act quickly, and they appear
- to do so only under great pressure from the public.
- Please help.
-
- Thank you.
- Dorothy
