- Well, I'm using A/UX 2.0.1 with an OKIDATA 9600 modem, and it seems to
- work fine with a version of uugetty that I found and compiled (sorry, it
- was a long time ago--I don't remember where I found it, and the sources
- are long gone to find space for X11R5 ;-).
-
- From what I've seen, A/UX 3.0 comes with uugetty (called getty :-).
- Take a look at your man page for getty--unless I'm wrong (always
- possible), there'll be settings you can configure so getty won't
- actually take control of the port until it reads a character coming
- in from the modem. If you call out, you just need to make sure that
- whatever program you're using will create a lock file in the expected
- place. Again, from memory, there are some patches to the BNU (of which
- uugetty is a part) for A/UX 3.0 out on aux.support.apple.com. Check the
- FAQ.
-
- Hopefully I've not sent you down the wrong path--I'm still working on
- convincing our department to work out a right-to-upgrade deal.
