- I have an RS/6000 320h running 3.2 AIX and occaisionally if I disable a
- tty by using "chdev -l ttyxx -a login=disable" everything hangs. After
- further inverstigation I found that the chdev process is what is hanging.
- The only way I have found to terminate this process is to "kill -9" the
- chdev. This in turn leaves a config_lock file which prevents any subsequent
- changes until it is removed, and once it is removed there seems to be no
- guaranty that it will work now, sometimes it does, and sometimes it. The
- only consistant fix that I have found is to reboot the system.
-
-
- Can anyone tell me what cause's this, and what is the correct procedure
- for fixing it.
-
- Please e-mail all answers.
