  13. I have an RS/6000 320h running 3.2 AIX and occaisionally if I disable a
  14. tty by using "chdev -l ttyxx -a login=disable" everything hangs.  After 
  15. further inverstigation I found that the chdev process is what is hanging.
  16. The only way I have found to terminate this process is to "kill -9" the 
  17. chdev. This in turn leaves a config_lock file which prevents any subsequent 
  18. changes until it is removed, and once it is removed there seems to be no 
  19. guaranty that it will work now, sometimes it does, and sometimes it.  The
  20. only consistant fix that I have found is to reboot the system.

  23. Can anyone tell me what cause's this, and what is the correct procedure
  24. for fixing it.
